Glen Scotia Distillery is located in Campbeltown on the west coast of Scotland. Situated near to the Crosshill Loch, they draw the water for the whisky production from there via two bore holes drilled twenty metres below the distillery. The Glen Scotia Distillery have been operating from this location for over 180 years.
Following a buyout by the Loch Lomond Group and much investment - a few very special releases and independent bottlings have been produced. Producing just 100,000 litres per year and with a staff of just two - the distillery has a long way to go before it reaches capacity and gets close to its hayday. Now Hector Gatt (of Springbank Fame) and James Grogan, the stillman are focussed on producing exceptional quality and perfecting the Campbeltown whisky profile.
This Campbeltown single malt whisky has been finished in American oak and was first released in 2015. Here we have a fruit forward whisky with flavours of apricot, ginger and cinnamon, a hint of that west coast salinity and some oak spice. A delightful campbeltown single malt whisky for the whisky lover.
