Casa Ferreirinha, founded in 1952, was the first house in its region dedicated to making light wines. The vineyard consists of 520 hectares in the Douro taking in all three of its sub regions. The winemaker restrains the Douro's natural exuberance and produces wines that are fresh whilst keeping a delightful depth and texture.
The vinha grande has a deep ruby colour with an intense and complex nose, combining aromas of oak, red fruits, black pepper and violet. The palate has good acidity and volume, coupled with smooth tannins and an exquisite minerality. This is completed by a strong finish. It is recommended that this wine be decanted.
