Gordon & Macphail - Discovery - Ardmore 2000 - Whisky
This millennium release from the Ardmore distillery for Gordon & Macphail's fantastic Discovery range knocks it out of the park! It is superb. Aged for 21 years, this single malt was bottled at 43%.
The Ardmore distillery is found in the Speyside region and is known for producing world class scotch whisky. Established in 1898 - it is the only distillery left in Scotland that still uses traditional methods of barley drying using only peat smoke. The fresh water used for distilling this whisky is drawn from the nearby Knockandy Hill, which provides clean and pure water essential for producing high-quality scotch.
And so to the flavour... this whisky has a rich and smoky flavour profile with subtle hints of honey and vanilla. The smoke comes from the traditional method of barley drying used by Ardmore that imparts a wonderful smoked, complexity to the whisky.
