Chartreuse

Chartreuse is a unique French, flavourful liqueur

A taste of French tradition, dating back to 1713, first produced by monks. Created with a blend of 130 plants, this liqueur boasts a herbaceous complexity and a bright yellow or green colour. Try on the rocks as a digestif, or in a cocktail.

Chartreuse is a French herbal liqueur, known for its vibrant green and yellow colours and complex profile.

First discovered by Carthusian monks in 1737, curated with up to 130 herbs, flowers and plants. Originally created as a medicine, today, it is enjoyed as a digestif post meal or a versatile ingredient in cocktails, such as The Last Word and the Bijou.

Production still takes place in the Mountains of France at a distillery near the Grande Chartreuse monastery in Chartreuse. The exact recipe for Chartreuse remains a closely kept secret, but within it emerges its unique green and yellow colour.

The green Chartreuse is believed to represent the monks' herbal habits, while the yellow signifies the golden colour of the setting sun over the Chartreuse Mountains, which is sweeter.
