Andreas Tscheppe is a reknowned natural winemaker in the region of Styria (also known as Steiermark), south-east Austria, bordering Slovenia. This area is famous for it's white wines, particularly Sauvignon Blanc which is stipulated to be the main grape for use in top quality wines. The vineyard, like many in the area, has steep terraces and vines that are planted on hill faces which are teeming with local wildlife and biodiversity. This wildlife has even become the focus of the labelling, reflecting the importance of thoughtful and hollistic winemaking.

The Green Dragonfly + is described as a 'calamity' wine by the winemaker - referring to a wine cellar incident that saw the fermentation of several batches of wine halted due to an unfinished roof and poor weather conditions. Due to this Andreas decided to bottle wines with the remaining residual sugar and use a crown cap to allow the fermentation to continue in bottle, resulting in a light effervescence. To differentiate them from the non-calamities they have 'Plus' stated on the back of the bottle. This Sauvignon Blanc has been aged in oak for 18 months, creating an almost creamy texture which is balanced nicely by both the high acidity and slight fizz. A really outstanding, unusual choice.
