Organic wine is wine made from grapes that have been grown in accordance with principles of organic farming. This typically excludes the use of any artificial chemical fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides and herbicides.
Being certified as an organic wine costs a lot of money – and is an ongoing annual expense for our farmers and winemakers and sometimes prohibitively so. Many of our wines are made in accordance with organic principles but because they’re usually small producers, we often don’t see an organic certificate on the back label. If we say its organic, then there is an organic label – if we don’t say its organic – it’s very likely that it’s still made that way…
