Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19YO
Since Ardbeg presented the first edition of Ardbeg 19 Years Old in August 2019, fans of the cult Islay distillery look forward to a new batch of the typically smoked single malt called "Traigh Bhan" every year. So this year, the fourth batch is available, strictly limited, of course.
Ardbeg Traigh Bhan is named after the 'singing sands' beach on Islay's south coast. When assembling the casks for this batch, more ex-Oloroso sherry casks were considered than for the editions of previous years, reports Moet Hennessy's press release and promises aromas of chocolate, raisins and a pronounced menthol character.
Whether not only the choice of casks but also the bottling date has an impact on the aroma is not explained in more detail, but it was important to the company, not only to mention on the label “Bottled: Under a full moon”, but also to point it out in the press release and note that “the tides have turned for this rare spirit”. Incidentally, Batch 3 was bottled "In a lockdown", Batch 3 "Under a thick haar" and Batch 1 "During a storm".
