Ardnamurchan - Sherry Cask 05/23
Ardnamurchan Distillery, located on the breathtakingly beautiful Ardnamurchan Peninsula in the Highlands region in Scotland is renowned for producing high quality whiskies. This notable expression - the Ardnamurchan Sherry Cask 05/23 is the first time the blending team have vatted malts entirely matured in sherry casks.
Ardnamurchan use locally sourced barley which is malted and mashed on site. The distillation takes place in traditional copper pot stills. After the distillation process, the whisky is transferred into sherry casks that housed both Olorosso and Pedro Ximinez and these impart the rich fortified wine flavours into the whisky over time, resulting in a complex and indulgent flavour profile. The whisky itself is a blend of both peated and unpeated Ardnamurchan expressions and we think this is going to be a very popular bottle in the shop.
This limited editon whisky beautifully showcases the influence of sherry cask maturation on the flavour profile. It has been bottled at 50% abv delivering both flavour and texture.
