Charles Mortimer Dedman established Kentucky Owl on the banks of the Kentucky River in 1879, and for 37 years it flourished, until the Federal Government confiscated its stocks in 1916 ahead of Prohibition. While the warehouse containing all of this whiskey suspiciously burned down soon afterwards, it’s thought that the stock likely found its way into the speakeasies of Chicago...
Today, Kentucky Owl flies again, and the Master Blender proudly shares the bourbon from the Dedman family created over 100 years ago. The modern day incarnation of this historic name in US distilling celebrates the best of the country’s whiskey through its limited releases, as well as its ongoing Confiscated bourbon.
In 1916, with Prohibition around the corner, the Federal Government seized 250,000 gallons of whisky from the Charles Mortimer Dedman family. Over 100 years later, Kentucky Owl™ Confiscated™ pays tribute to those lost barrels.
A departure from Kentucky Owl’s single-batch approach, Confiscated is a consistent, approachable blend that’s versatile yet robust.
Kentucky Owl’s master blender has intentionally created a big, characterful whiskey as an homage to the family’s history – a bourbon that stands up in cocktails just as well as it does neat or over ice.
To achieve this, he blends four distillates of 6, 9, 10 and 12 years of age. The result is a full-flavoured and even fuller-bodied bourbon.

Shipping UK: Starts from £5.95. We aim to ship products to their UK delivery address within 72 hours. The courier service operates Monday - Friday. We cannot deliver to PO Boxes.
Shipping Europe: Pre October 31st 2019, we are able to ship throughout most of Europe. Shipping costs differ, relative to the destination country. Costs will be evident at checkout. Examples. Shipping 3 bottles of wine to Spain, approximately £25. Shipping 20 cans of beer to Scandinavia, approximately £60.
Should the customer advise us that a package be left outside their property or for example with a neighbour or work colleague, it is done so at their risk and we cannot accept any liability for any subsequent damage potentially incurred.
If the customer is not in for the delivery the courier company should leave a card and attempt delivery two more times, on the following day and then the day after. Should both these attempts prove unsuccessful the package will be kept at the couriers nearest depot with the customer taking responsibility to collect.
Returns
Upon receipt of delivery the customer has 14 days to return most unopened items in the same condition as purchased for a full refund.
In the case of an error on our behalf (incorrect product to the one ordered) as well as for damaged or defective items please contact us and we will cover the return shipping costs and / or arrange replacements where possible.

Yes of course - just add a message when placing your order and we’ll transcribe it for you and send it along with the parcel.
Where is my order?
We use a courier service. They deliver Monday to Friday. You will be sent a tracking order number when the parcel is collected and will be able to trace when your parcel is out for delivery.
What’s the minimum spend for free delivery?
If you live locally to us within a few miles of Brighton in Sussex, we offer Free delivery for orders over £50 its automatically calculated at checkout.
If you are ordering from further away - spend £150 for Free delivery nationwide.
Can I add something to my order after I have checked out?
