Amaro Montenegro has been distilled in Bologna in Italy since 1885. The original version was called Elisir Lungavita but the name was changed in 1896 after Princess Elena of Montenegro who married the future King of Italy.

The drink was created by Stanislao Cobianchi when he established the Distilleria Fratelli Montenegro. It stands to this day in the same place in Bologna.

The production of Amaro Montenegro involves a meticulous infusion of over forty botanicals from four continents to perfect the flavour. It uses various botanicals at each stage of the distillation including coriander, oregano, marjoram, bitter and sweet oranges along with others. There is an addition of the 'Premio', the micro-distillation of five botanicals integrated into the final top secret blend. Each ingredient is selected for its unique contribution  the final product.

Drink on it's own as a digestif at the end of a delicous meal or use in cocktails. It's so versatile that it is often used as a key ingredient to many different cocktails both classic and modern. It's a must-have ingredient in the best bars across the world.
