Domaine des Carlines - La Vouivre Jura 2020
Domaine des Carlines is a tiny, organically farmed vineyard within Menetru-Le-Vignoble, with a small parcel of land sitting within the 'unofficial Grand Cru' area of Chateau-Chalon appellation. The wines are aged using Burgundian seasoned oak and being kept in contact with the lees, usually for up to 12 months. They utilise the ullage found within the open space left between the juice and the top of the barrel whilst fermenting and ageing, which allows a certain controllable level of oxidation and increases the depth of flavour and expresses the unique characteristics within the wine derived form the terroir.
La Vouivre is a Chardonnay and Savagnin blend with intense flavours and aromas of ripe apple and pear, following with a hint of spice. It is a full bodied and rich wine with complex characteristics and is barrel matured in used French oak for 15 months.
