Foundi - Naoussa - Estate Xinomavro 2018
Ktima Foundi Estate is in Naoussa, northeast Greece, where Xinomavro reigns supreme. It is a small family run estate that exclusively grows Xinomavro, creating all styles of wine from this versatile grape – even white wines!
Xinomavro is a versatile and multi-faceted grape, lending its qualities to many different styles of wine. You will find it grown all over Greece in its many expressions, usually seen as elegant and refined in its qualities, able to mimic some of the best classic wines found in other areas of Europe.
This Xinomavro is the most traditional of styles out there, made in a full bodied, highly tannic and intensely flavoured character – this wine is often compared to top shelf Barolo, and for good reason. The flavours are reminiscent of Nebbiolo, with black pepper, allspice, tobacco and a concentrated spattering of red fruits (raspberry particularly). Enjoy with a juicy steak, or a creamy pasta dish.
