Bobbys Schiedam Jenever
Genever (also spelled Jenever) is made in the netherlands and is the dutch version of gin. Made in a similar way to whisky, using a malted mash and a pot still, juniper is used to flavour it. The Mash is made up of equal parts Rye, Corn and Malted Barley. After three distillations the resulting spirit is partially redistilled with juniper, Licorice and aniseed.
Genever is made in two distinct styles, jonge (young), a neutral, lighter flavour and oude (old) which is more like whisky with woody, smoky and malted flavours.
This particular genever is made in the jonge style so it is fruity and light bodied.This lovely dutch gin (genever) is made using Indonesian spices and was inspired by the Grandad of the maker, Bobby Alfons who was an Indonesian sailor with a penchant for making gin.
