Monbazillac is a renowned appellation in southwestern France that produces some of the country's best sweet white wines. Monbazillac wines are produced in the larger Bergerac region from grapes infected by noble rot, sometimes known as botrytis. The grapes are dehydrated naturally, which intensifies their flavours and concentrates their sugars.
This sweet wine has candied orange, honey, saffron, pineapple, mango, and dried apricot flavours, as well as a lively acidity and an elegant finish. It pairs well with rich pates and Roquefort cheese as an aperitif, or as a dessert wine with tarte tatin and gateau aux pommes moelleux.
