Home to some of the worlds most famous and best wines – you have probably heard of Chianti. Some notable Tuscan wines began their rise to fame as late as the 1970’s and are known today as Super Tuscans. The Super Tuscans stormed into world-wide fame after planting Cabernet Sauvignon and blending it into Sangiovese. The first to do this was a chap named Mario Incisa della Rocchetta of the winery Sassicaia. Sangiovese is the back bone of the regions reds but there are many great whites too with Vermentino Trebbiano growing in popularity all the time.
