Le Marche
The entire eastern boundary of this region is on the Adriatic coastline. Most of the rest of the region is dominated by mountains. The wines, though not particularly well known outside of Italy make for good drinking and are predominantly made with the red montepulciano grape or sangiovese grape varieties. Also making many of the whites is a grape called Pecorino, which makes for a delightful dry, citrus and minerally white wine.
