Alto Adige
Found in the mountainous north eastern region and with a good deal of influence from its Austrian neighbours, this place produces some of the best but least known wines in Italy. You’ll find grape varieties not seen in other parts of Italy such as Muller Thurgau (a white wine) and Lagrein (a red wine). The vineyards are mountainous and so they are difficult to farm. It’s hard work involving lots of hand-harvesting and careful vineyard management. If you haven’t yet tried the alpine wines of Alto Adige, please make one the next bottle for your table – they are lovely.
