Tarquin's "The Seadog" Navy Strength Gin is Southwestern Distillery's excellent Tarquin's Gin, but this has been bottled at 57%.
The higher ABV is the strength at which gunpowder would still ignite if it was accidentally soaked in gin during battle and the strength historically drunk by the Royal Navy. The stronger gin is superb in a Martini cocktail, with the botanicals of orris root, green cardamom seeds, cinnamon and Devon violets all still apparent.
Spicy juniper and cardamom is obvious on the palate, with sweet, fragrant citrus and pine, black pepper warmth, and a big, spicy and drying finish.
Try it in cocktails for something that packs a little more punch.
