The Macallan distillery deserves its highly regarded reputation. In 2018 a 60 year old Macallan whisky sold at auction for £848,000 making it the worlds most expensive bottle of whisky - perhaps you should get checking your nan and grandads whisky collection...
Originally Macallan whiskies were aged solely in Sherry casks imported from Jerez in southern Spain, now they also use Bourbon seasoned casks.
Macallan Gold is part of the 1824 series, it is aged in sherry casks and so is typical of the Macallan flavour profile. Citrus and spice predominate with a classic sweet and toasty finish. Lovely.
