Green Spot Whisky is a single pot still Irish whisky produced in Cork at the Midleton Distillery for Mitchell & Son Wine Merchants of Dublin. Mitchell devised a simple colour coding system for the whiskies in the warehouse using spots of coloured paint on the casks. Blue Spot was 7 years old, Green Spot was 10 years old, yellow was 12 and red was 15. It became a roaring success - the customers loved it and from the first release in 1933, Green Spot was rightly held in great esteem.
Today Green Spot is lauded by the critics as one of the worlds great whiskies. It has been kept in first fill bourbon casks and sherry casks round off a sweeten up the final flavour. On the palate a pungent combination of peppermint, oak, soft wood and creamy vanilla and sweet barley.
