A lovely rum matured in whiskey barrels. Diplomatico rum is produced in Venezuela in Destilerias Unidas SA , situated at the foot of the Andes Mountains. It is a privately owned Venezuelan company and was bought by a group of Venezuelan entrepreneurs back from Seagrams in 2002, and rightly so they are extremely proud of the brand and of course the rum! It was named after Don Juancho Nieto Melendez, a local rum afficionado - he's the guy on the labels.
Flavours of soft brown sugar, dried fruits and a little oak. Delicious.
