Delas Freres was founded in 1835 in the Rhone region by Phillipe Delas and Charles Audibert and since then has built a reputation for producing premium quality wines. There are 30 hectares of vines grown on the estate including 10 in the world famous Hermitage Hill.
Working organically since 2013 (but not certified), the most recent vintages have caught press attention for their complexity and intense flavour. The wines are rightly acclaimed as some of the best value and most refined in the entire region.
Beaumes de Venise is a wine appellation found in southern Rhone; the wines are fortified and sweet and made with the muscat grape variety which is characteristically floral. The wines are made in the normal way but the fermentation is prematurely halted - leaving the residual sugars to remain in the wine. This process is called "mutage" and there is evidence that wines have been made in this way in this region since the 14th Century.
This delicious sweet wine is best served at the end of a meal with a fruit tart, or fruit based pudding.
