The port house Real Companhia Velha can take the prize for being the oldest wine company in Portugal, having been making port for just over 260 years continuously. The business was founded in 1756 by the King of Portugal and it makes port for some of the worlds most recognisable old port houses, including Delaforce. It is situated on the banks of the Duero in Porto.
Ripe jammy fruit aromas combine with the rich mellow flavours of wood ageing and displays the characteristic elegance, balance and harmony of the Delaforce house style. Rich and round on the palate
LBV stands for Late Bottled Vintage Port and the official definition describes it thus: a ruby port from a specific vintage that has been chosen for its high quality and then bottled for ageing for between 4 - 6 years in wood - so it's a vintage port in style - but it does not have the same cost as a vintage port. It's ready for consumption immediately.
