Clos Lojen is a red wine from the relatively new D.O. Manchuela. Its vineyards are situated at about 600 metres above sea level on mainly clay and limestone soil producing elegant red wines. The region makes particularly impressive Bobal wines, characterised by their intense shade of violet, freshness on the palate and an abundance of fruit and floral aromas. It is Spains second red variety, behind only the ubiquitous Tempranillo. The Clos Lojen is produced from Bobal vines which are around 30 years old. The grapes are then pressed and fermented using wild yeasts before being matured in French oak barrels for 7 months and then bottled without filtration. The palate is juicy with luscious tannins and light spice. Pairs well with roast lamb, pork and cured cheeses.
