Chateau Musar is world renowned for producing Bordeaux style red and white wines with their own unique twist. The wines are produced with minimum intervention and the vineyards where certified organic in 2006. The red wines are unfiltered and unfined thereby being suitable for vegans. Due to the nature of these wines, especially those over a decade old, the wine should be stored upright the night before service and then decanted a couple of hours before drinking.
This vintage is almost equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Carignan fermented in concrete vats. Following fermentation the wine is then aged in French oak barriques for one year and then blended and bottled 3 years after harvest.It is then aged for a further 4 years in the cellars of Chateau Musar. Seven years in the making it was released in 2007. Suitable for drinking now or laying down.
This is an approachable but serious wine, slightly darker than usual. A complex nose showing earthiness, tobacco, leather and spice leads to a delicious, well balanced wine on the palate with figs, damsons, olives and even ripe black cherries. Well balanced acidity, velvety tannis and a glorious long finish. Drink now and enjoy.
