In 1987 Thomas E Bulliet Jr revived a carefully kept family receipe and began the Bulliet Distilling Company. He was inspired by his great, great grandfather, Augustus, a tavern keeper in Louisville Kentucky and a keen bourbon experimenter and enthusiast who wanted to create a Bourbon with a distinctive character. One day - in the 1830's - Augustus was transporting some precious barrels of his bourbon from Kentucky to New Orleans when he vanished along with his barrels of whiskey, presumably abducted. Sadly he was never found again and the surroundings of his dissapearance are still a mystery to this day.
The Bulliet range continues to be a firm favourite with staff and customers here at Seven Cellars, and now for the first time we can sample it after it has spent a decade in oak. I am really looking forward to trying this.
