When Gordon & Macphail released the discovery series they attempted to place their whiskies into what they consider to be the three most important categories for Scotch whisky tasting. They are: Sherry maturation, Smoke maturation and Bourbon maturation.
The Discovery 11 is in the Sherry category. The reasoning behind this categorisation is that it should help people to get to grips with which style they prefer.
The Bunnahabhain 11 is an Islay single malt which has sherried flavours and orange marmalade. It's smooth and creamy on the palate with a spike of cinnamon and dried fruits.
