Offbeat Wines are based near Salisbury in Wiltshire and with the aim to produce delicious, low intervention wines with environmental preservation and sustainability as the heart of their entire philosophy.
The grapes are pressed in a traditional wooden basket press, fermented spontaniously in a range of vessels including amphora and oak. The winery runs on solar power and the wines do not go through a fining or filtration process. Sulfites are used but in minute quantities - and only when absolutely necessary. Labels are printed on 100% recycled materials.
All this makes Offbeat wines a very exciting winery. The wines are clearly subject to our crazy weather and so of course we will find that these wines differ wildly from year to wonderful year.
Skinny Dip 2018 is made using ripe Solaris grapes left to ferment naturally using uncertified but organic grapes. Following 3 months of masceration the grape skins were pressed and the press wine added back to the free run. Thie wine was then rested on the lees in stainless steel for 10 months before being bottled via gravity with no fining, filtration or additions.
The extended contact with the grape skins lends more texture and an in-depth flavour of poached pear, citrus and with mint aromas.
No added sulphites, no fining and no filtration. Vegan. Just 1048 bottles made
